Hello strangers!

It has been a while…

I hope this long-awaited blog post finds you well. I am currently updating this little website of mine. If the photography looks different, it is because I am experimenting. Every image accompanying this blog post was captured and edited on an iPhone. I don’t know how I feel about the results. Your feedback is required (and always appreciated). Life has been dark and hectic but I am in a better place, well, physically, at least.

The cost of living crisis is on everybody’s mind. It is at the heart of many discussions and many decisions. Some are struggling to afford necessities and others are opting for budget-friendly dupes. Skincare is not a necessity but it does help to know of cheaper options. This is why I have decided to prioritise affordable skincare. I want to review skincare products accessible to individuals with a limited budget. A limited budget should not prevent good quality skincare. So, my first affordable skincare find is Beauty Formulas Brightening Vitamin C Micro-Polishing Facial Scrub.

Beauty Formulas Brightening Vitamin C Micro-Polishing Facial Scrub is an impressive face wash. Yes, you read right. This is a face wash marketed as a scrub, which I find bizarre as Beauty Formulas also describes it as a “light foaming gel”. Beauty Formulas Brightening Vitamin C Micro-Polishing Facial Scrub is incredibly inexpensive, costing £1.15 (for 150ml), if purchased from Savers. What a steal! Gentle enough for daily use, Beauty Formulas Brightening Vitamin C Micro-Polishing Facial Scrub is formulated with a “Vitamin Complex” that includes vitamins B, C and E. Utilising micro-polishing beads, it is said to shed dull dead skin to reveal a new glowing complexion. These claims are pretty bold but not at all baseless as Beauty Formulas Brightening Vitamin C Micro-Polishing Facial Scrub delivers. Words cannot express how much I enjoyed using this product. It reminds me of my beloved, amazing, now-discontinued, Superdrug Vitamin C Refreshing Facial Cleanser.

Where does one begin? Let’s start with the scent. Beauty Formulas Brightening Vitamin C Micro-Polishing Facial Scrub smells wonderful. Unsurprisingly, the scent reminds me of oranges; this is the go-to fragrance for most skincare products formulated with vitamin C. As Beauty Formulas Brightening Vitamin C Micro-Polishing Facial Scrub is infused with micro-polishing beads, it is grainy. It is also a little runny but it lathers beautifully. The grains are nothing to be concerned about as they are very fine and aid in effective exfoliation. A joy to use daily, Beauty Formulas Brightening Vitamin C Micro-Polishing Facial Scrub never failed to leave my skin feeling clean and soft. I also noticed a tiny change in my complexion. My skin looks a little brighter.

However, Beauty Formulas Brightening Vitamin C Micro-Polishing Facial Scrub did nothing to manage my oily skin (which is fine as the brand does not guarantee this). So, are there any more cons? No product is without flaws. I prefer thicker face washes; I feel I waste product when it is too runny. Beauty Formulas Brightening Vitamin C Micro-Polishing Facial Scrub is good but it does not compare to pricier options and that is ok. This is most definitely a product formulated on a budget but it is acceptable as it works very well. Don’t expect drastic improvements from this face wash. Regardless, I am a fan. If you are looking to spend less on skincare, look no further!
